To get your child to listen the first time, you must help him develop the habit to pay attention to whatever you are saying. How you talk to your child is part of cultivating this habit.

Particularly when there is no time, behaviors are out of bounds. Big power struggles cause parents to see yelling as the only way to get a child to listen to them.

Stop yelling. Parents may find yelling to be an effective option in the short term, but it creates more problems.

If you want your children to eat healthily, they need to see you prioritizing your health and eating healthy. Even my five-year-old is more likely to eat her vegetables when she sees mommy eating hers.

Modeling the Behavior

Do not react to their tantrum, be patient, and help them feel less angry or anxious. They could be experiencing anxiety and they may have no idea how to deal with it.

How to Deal with Toddler Tantrum

For a younger child, get on your knees and try to maintain eye contact while talking to him. Friendly physical contact can help them feel safe and calm as well.
